I am now a permanent resident in the US, what can I do now that I couldn’t before?
You can now:- Own and run your own business without restriction.
- Work for any employer and as many employers as you wish that don’t require US citizenship.
- Travel without a visa to countries that recognize permanent residence in lieu of your nation of origin (i.e. Canada, the Caribbean).
- Own firearms with little or no restriction and obtain permits to carry just as citizens can.
- Enlist in the US military.
- Not have to worry about providing documentation to renew or maintain status with USCIS save for telling them when you move.
- Be eligible to naturalize as a US citizen when you meet the requirements.
- Purchase property as a US resident rather than as a foreign national with better terms and options.
